Getting on the Right Track: Launching Commuter Rail
Wisconsin is at a turning point. Our state is competing for secondary company headquarters like Amazon and Foxconn. Now more then ever we need to be able to move Wisconsinites across the state in an economical, reliable, and timely fashion. We can't wait for politicians to debate over High Speed Rail, so as a public/private company we are moving forward with a new more cost effective mode of transportation already in use across the globe. Utilizing a fleet of diesel multiple units to move Wisconsin forward. Diesel multiple unites or DMUs are a multiple-unit train powered by on-board diesel engines. A DMU requires no separate locomotive, as the engines are incorporated into one or more of the carriages not only saving money on expensive locomotives, but also cutting down on the amount of fuel used per train set. With DMUs Badger Transit will us American made train sets for longer distance intercity transit and eventually shorter distance intracity transit.
